Get Authentication Error in upgrade SQL 2005 named instance to SP1 TCP

I got the following error using either NT or SQL Login ('sa') that are sysadmin in my SQL 2005 instance:

Your Account information could not be verified for one or more instances. Ensure that you can connect to all the selected instances using the account information provided. To process further deselect the instances to which connectivity cannot be established.

However, I would login to SQL 2005 named instance, either NT or SQL login 'sa' without any problems to do anything I want because both are sysadmin.

<PS> Note that my default SQL instance in my local server is SQL 2000 and SQL 2005 named instance.

Hi Richard, I just tried this on my machine and didn't hit any issues. Can you send a little more info about the state of your machine? Are you running SQL 2000 SP4? What SKU is SQL 2000 and what SKU is 2005? Are they both ENT? And how are you connecting to the 2005 named instance? I was able to install SP1 using Windows Authentication. Can you submit your install logs so I can try to help debug?

Here's what I did:
1) Install SQL 2000 ENT SKU as local system, setting SA password - default instance
2) Apply SQL 2000 SP4
3) Install SQL 2005 ENT SKU setting SQL to run under domain account - named instance
4) Install SQL 2005 SP1

Does that look similar to your repro steps?

Generating Reports Error, dependent on local groups?

I finished creating my reports and have had an issue with generating the
reports on http://localhost/reports. When I login to
http://localhost/reports with a user that is part of the Local Administrators
Group the reports run perfectly correct. But when I login with a user that
is not part of the Local Administrators Group I get the Reporting Services
Error:
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted) Get

The user that I am logged in with has the same exact item-level and
system-level roles as the BUILTIN\Administrators and can navigate throughout
the site to get to the reports but when its time to actually generate the
reports I get the error above.
MikeThis is a problem of the user connecting to Oracle, not to Report Server. The
error is coming form ODBC.
Test this by reconfiguring the data source and storing credentials on the
report server so that the credentials you use are the same as those being
used by the other person.

Even though the error states that this is an ODBC issue, it confuses me
since I am able to generate reports with users that are part of the Local
Administrator Group, but anyone outside of that group can not Generate
Reports. If everyone was having problems generating reports then I would
definitely see how it is an ODBC issue.
Any other suggestions?

Generating Report Error, Local Administrator Group

I finished creating my reports and have had an issue with generating the
reports on http://localhost/reports. When I login to
http://localhost/reports with a user that is part of the Local Administrators
Group the reports run perfectly correct. But when I login with a user that
is not part of the Local Administrators Group I get the Reporting Services

I know from sp_help_revlogin, we can generate login with correct password
information, how to generate a one step script for particular user with the
login as well as privileges information? sp_help_revlogin only generates the
login information, but not including the roles granted to the user.I don't think there is any script available to do this.

Generate A Report Via Login

To all you experts out there, I have one hurdle I need help on.
I've created a SQL report which has 3 parameters asking for a from_date, a
to_date & an employee. The report then returns all projects, tasks,
yadda-yadda, for the employee, within the date range from a time tracking
database. Very usefull come performance review time.
My intention is to make this report available on Sharepoint via a link (or
Report Manager), where whoever logs into sharepoint (or Report Manager) can
access this report for themselves and no one else, meaning they click on the
report and get prompted for the date range parameters but not the employee
parameter. The report should recongize who is accessing the report by virtue
of their login & find the corresponding employee information in the database
& display the report for that employee.
Should this functionality be implemented in the SQL report or should it be
implemented within Sharepoint? Based on that question, how can this
functionality be implemented?

need a table somewhere with this relationship. Then use the global variable
User!UserID. This is the user running the report. Your query parameter does
not have to be mapped to a report parameter. Click on the ... for the
dataset, parameters tab, right side of list select expression which takes
you to the expression builder. Note that User!UserID returns the user with
the domain i.e. domain\userid

a report parameter for the emp_name).
I completely forgot about the userid. Good news is I can match up the userid
to the substring of a field already being returned (emp_name), but I don't
quite follow how to set it up as a query parameter. Do I create a new dataset
or create this query parameter on the dataset for my existing result set
details(where emp_name exists)? Can you give me a hint on what the syntax
would look like?

refered to that parameter in the data set as;
WHERE pe_date between @.FromDate AND @.ToDate
AND ('DOMAIN\' + Substring(descr,3,25)) = @.EmployeeName
OR ('DOMAIN\' + Substring(descr,1,1) + Substring(descr,3,25)) = @.EmployeeName
